In this document we will focus in the description of the silicon-tungsten electromagnetic calorimeter, SiW-ECAL, technological prototype and its performance in beam test. The design and R&D of this prototype is conducted by CALICE and it is oriented at the baseline design of the ILD ECAL. POSTSUBSCRIPT of thickness (in the barrel region) and it uses silicon (Si) as active material and tungsten (W) as absorber material. The combination of Si and W for the construction of the detector allows the construction of a very compact calorimeter made up of compact active layers with small cell size (high granularity) in the transverse and longitudinal planes. It will consist of an alveolar structure of carbon fiber into which the slabs made up of tungsten plates and active sensors will be inserted. The very-front-end (VFE) electronics will be embedded in the slabs. The silicon sensors will be segmented in squared cells of 5x5 mm, featuring a total of ?100similar-toabsent100sim 100? 100 million channels for the ECAL of the ILD.|Both data mining and data warehousing are business intelligence tools that are used to turn information (or data) into actionable knowledge. The important distinctions between the two tools are the methods. Processes each uses to achieve this goal. Data mining is a process of statistical analysis. Analysts use technical tools to query. Sort through terabytes of data looking for patterns. Usually, the analyst will develop a hypothesis, such as customers who buy product X usually buy product Y within six months. Running a query on the relevant data to prove or disprove this theory is data mining. Businesses then use this information to make better business decisions based on how they understand their customers' and suppliers' behaviors. Data warehouse experts consider that the various stores of data are connected. Related to each other conceptually as well as physically. A business's data is usually stored across a number of databases. However, to be able to analyze the broadest range of data, each of these databases needs to be connected in some way. This means that the data within them need a way of being related to other relevant data. That the physical databases themselves have a connection so their data can be looked at together for reporting purposes. So the crux of the relationship between data mining and data warehousing is that data, properly warehoused, is easier to mine. If a data mining query has to run through terabytes of data spread across multiple databases, which sit on different physical networks - - that is not an efficient query and getting results will take a long a time. However, if the data warehouse expert designs a data storage system that closely connects relevant data in different databases, the data miner can now run much more meaningful and efficient queries to improve the business. France are my tip to easily win this group, but to predict who will finish second is much harder. The other three teams are very evenly matched. They will all be confident that they can progress to the next stage. Here is my run down of the teams. France are one of the big favorites to lift the trophy in Paris on the 10th of July. They have home advantage, a good manager and a team full of talent. There are two big question marks in my mind. The first is that France was directly qualified as hosts. Therefore haven't played any competitive games since the world cup in Brazil. There is also a worry about how strong the team spirit in the French team is. They have a long history of infighting and this have been evident in past tournaments, you can't win unless everybody pulls in the same direction.|A spat between Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Biden is pushing gas prices ever higher. It started under Obama. As Russia ordered troops into Ukraine on Monday, gas prices soared to their highest levels in over seven years. While the media focuses on the conflict in Ukraine, a major cause of the gas price spike has gone overlooked: Moscow’s partnership with Saudi Arabia has grown dramatically in recent years, granting the two largest oil producers in the world the unprecedented ability to collude in oil export decisions. The desert kingdom’s relationship with the U.S. President Joe Biden pleaded with the Saudis to increase oil production - a move that would not only have helped to alleviate rising inflation and gas prices, but also reduced Russia’s extravagant profits amid its aggression against Ukraine. The Saudi king declined. The Saudi and Russian relationship has blossomed under Saudi Arabia’s de facto ruler, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, whose first formal meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin took place in the summer of 2015. MBS pursued the meeting after then-President Barack Obama declined to meet with him, The Intercept has learned from two sources with knowledge of the matter who were granted anonymity to describe sensitive discussions. mp3

We'll come back to this concept on the next page. A second essential feature of the Fabric PC's flexible design is that its individual components will be built into a pliable fabric-like backbone rather than a metal frame. While the components themselves will still be rigid, the device as a whole will have some flexibility if the components are spaced apart within the fabric -- somewhat similar to how rigid rhinestones can be sewn into a fancy dress. One final key to the Fabric PC's design is straightforward -- its individual components will be as small and lightweight as possible. Also, non-essential components will likely be left out. This minimalist approach to computer design has already been the trend for some of today's laptops that are designed to be small and lightweight. For example, lighter "flash" memory has been used in place of bulkier hard disk drives. With the ability to quickly download files wirelessly, the CD/DVD drive can be left out entirely.|This shot of the Moto 360 smart watch, which will run Android Wear, is slated to be available in summer 2014 in the United States. Picture a device that serves up timely, localized info from your smartphone's apps and Web searches based on what it predicts you want to know. Look, here's a traffic report as you head off on your daily commute. Here's a notice about a meeting change. Here's a flight update as you head to the airport. Now imagine that you don't wear the device on your face (Google Glass) or dig it out of your pocket, but access it with a glance at your watch, a few swipes at its touch screen, or perhaps a spoken command. This is the world conjured by Google's launch video for Android Wear, its software platform for wearable tech. Whether the products that run the software will justify the hype remains an open question until summer 2014, when the first devices hit the market. “This kind of language, that another nation doesn’t exist, is something we need to pay attention to because it usually precedes atrocious actions,” he added. On Tuesday, the U.S. Embassy in Kyiv shared a meme based on the fact that Kyiv predates Moscow as a city. It is not clear what those actions might be. Will Russian troops remain confined to the Moscow-backed separatist regions in the country’s east, itself widely seen as a violation of international law? Or is this just the opening salvo in a broader war on the rest of Ukraine? There are some, such as Dmitri Trenin, director of the Carnegie Moscow Center, a think tank, who believe that there will be “no major war.” The “stabilization of the frontline” in eastern Ukraine is Putin’s short-term goal, he tweeted. Many other experts don’t buy that. Why would Russia mass more than 150,000 troops on Ukraine’s borders, incur Western sanctions and unite NATO - if it merely wanted to take control of a region that it has effectively controlled for years anyway? 25th amendment trump

Soldiers perform a check of the top rotor on the UH-60 Black hawk on the ramp. A soldier performs a maintenance check on the top rotor of a UH-60 Black Hawk. The blade skin and trailing edge are made of composite materials. The stronger, leading edge of the blade is made of titanium and nickel and is trimmed with an anti-erosion strip, which protects the blade from wear as it skims across the tree tops or flies in abrasive desert air. As the drive shaft turns the rotor head, the blades begin to spin. As the blades cut through the air, they create the rotor disc, which is the circle created as the blades spin. The diameter of the Black Hawk's rotor disc is 53 feet, 8 inches (16.36 m). Larger helicopters or helicopters that carry heavy loads, such as the Black Hawk, require a large rotor disc. The disc rotation of the Black Hawk generates enough force to lift the vehicle with crew, troops, and as much as a 9,000-pound (4,082.33-kg) external payload. With storage space, you could actually get too much of a good thing. Walk-in closets may bolster images of success and comfort, but having all of that stuff around can take away from creating a haven in your home. Too little or too much storage clutters lives. If you have too much storage space, you might fill it with more clutter, but if you don't have enough, you may not have room for a growing family. Keeping windows sealed helps with the heating and cooling bills, but may make it difficult to get out in the event of a fire. It's not a new phenomenon, but many people in industrialized countries get very little fresh air. We often wake in heated or air-conditioned rooms, commute with car, subway and bus windows sealed tight, and spend days in hyper-sealed work spaces. Safety and surrounding air quality factor in to whether we open windows and let natural air circulate, and privacy, noise and convenience issues determine whether we open windows in our homes at all. las

And if the world’s democracies lack the political will to stop them, the rules-based international order will collapse. The United Nations will go the way of the League of Nations. We will revert to spheres of global influence, unbridled military and economic competition, and ultimately, world war. Yes, this is alarming, but it’s not alarmist. We should be alarmed. Nuclear Russia is a revisionist, revanchist power acting already as if there is no international order or United Nations, ignoring the Geneva Conventions, UN Charter, Helsinki Accords or any of the host of regional agreements Moscow has signed. I believe Putin’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine is even more likely after watching Russian forces quell the current round of demonstrations in Kazakhstan. The demonstrations in Almaty and throughout the country likely only intensified Putin’s alarm for democratic uprisings, or what he calls “color revolutions,” and renewed his commitment to use armed forces against them throughout the region. Moscow denied that, charging that Russians who joined the separatists were volunteers. More than 14,000 people have died in the fighting that devastated Ukraine’s eastern industrial heartland known as Donbas. A 2015 peace agreement brokered by France and Germany helped end large-scale battles, but efforts to reach a political settlement have failed, and sporadic skirmishes have continued along the tense line of contact. Earlier this year, a spike in cease-fire violations in the east and a Russian troop concentration near Ukraine fueled war fears, but tensions abated when Moscow pulled back the bulk of its forces after maneuvers in April. Ukraine has complained that Moscow has kept over 90,000 troops not far from the two countries’ border following massive war games in western Russia in the fall. The Ukrainian Defense Ministry said units of the Russian 41st army have remained near Yelnya, a town about 260 kilometers (160 miles) north of the Ukrainian border. Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov told lawmakers Friday that the number of Russian troops near Ukraine and in Russian-annexed Crimea is estimated at 94,300, warning that a “large-scale escalation” is possible in January. us elections

Members of the wolf-like group include wolves, coyotes and jackals, which are all closely related. Observing the diversity of dogs and wild canids, scientists like Charles Darwin reasoned that different types of dogs might be descended from different types of wild canids. However, modern DNA analysis shows us that dogs are descended only from wolves. In the next section, we'll look at how this evolution might have happened. Even if it's clear that dogs are descended from wolves, it is less obvious how this came about. The conventional view, and one widely represented in both fiction and nonfiction, is that prehistoric people took wolf pups from their dens and reared them to think of people as their "pack." These tamed wolves lived with people and reproduced. The people that cared for them treasured individuals with odd coats or heavier bone structure, which might have meant death in the wild. Over time people began to breed these wolf-dogs selectively until they eventually created the diversity of dogs we see today.|Sunny beaches, scenic woods, soaring mountains, health retreats, ski resorts, historic spots, stunning architecture - Ukraine seems to have everything that a visitor might want. This Eastern European region, the second biggest in Europe and strategically situated from the crossroads between Asia and Europe, indeed provides an assortment of vacation destinations. Within the southern part, a single finds the Crimean peninsula, a world-renowned relaxation haven. Household to charming beach resorts and popular health-and-wellness centers, it truly is exactly where Russia's previous leaders (Breshnez, Stalin, Krushnev, etc.) went to unwind and regenerate. The Carpathian Mountains, which basically go through several countries which include Ukraine, is the one other favorite tourist attraction. Referred to as the "Green Pearl" of Ukraine, the Carpathians are lush with woodlands, rivers and mountain rivers, Alpine meadows, and serene mountain scenery. In the meantime, the hilly capital city of Kiev boasts of world-renowned architecture. Most notable are the Cathedral of St. Sophia, the Ukrainian Baroque Church of St. Andrew, the Monastery in the Caves, plus the 970-year-old Golden Gate. The information the CDC circulates is intended to be a snapshot of current flu trends, not specific numbers of people who caught the flu during that flu season or year. The focus is on whether flu outbreaks are occurring, where flu is being reported, when it was reported and which influenza viruses are to blame. While the data released by the CDC provides an accurate picture of flu trends, that data, once it's compiled and analyzed, is also one to two weeks old. It can't tell you whether a new pocket of flu emerged in a specific city over the previous weekend, but it's good for measuring the overall impact of flu on the U.S. For instance, by monitoring which strains of influenza were circulating in the 2014 flu season, CDC epidemiologists were able to tell with data collected between Oct. 1 and Nov. 22 that one of the three chosen strains included in that year's flu shot had mutated, and the vaccine would be less effective that season. bbc urdu
